About The Position Under the supervision of the Senior Assistant Director of Graduate Business Programs and the Executive Director of Graduate Programs and Non‑Degree Programs, the Graduate Advisor serves as the primary academic advisor for all Graduate Program students. Responsibilities Advises new and continuing graduate students on prerequisites, course waivers, degree requirements, and course selection. Evaluates transcripts, reviews general university policy and procedures, and provides guidance on academic probation and retention strategies. Coordinates student success initiatives and oversees processing of digital welcome packets. Processes classifications and graduation checks for current students, obtains approvals and signatures for petitions and program documents. Co‑coordinates internship opportunities and collaborates with the Study Abroad program. Develops, updates, and trains staff on the paperless process through Salesforce; tracks student‑advising communications each semester. Trains and manages student workers, maintaining up‑to‑date training documents. Assists the Senior Assistant Director with scheduling conflicts, course replacements, grading issues, and other administrative tasks. Collaborates with Scheduling to correct course section issues and ensure successful student registration. Provides additional support to the Senior Assistant Director as needed; performs other duties as assigned. Maintains record‑keeping and promotes a supportive and inclusive environment for a diverse student population. Ensures regular attendance and complies with all CSU policies regarding job performance and eligibility. Essential Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in behavioral sciences, public administration, business administration or a related field plus two years of professional experience in student services or a related area. Master’s degree may substitute for one year of professional experience; additional experience may be substituted year‑for‑year. General knowledge of organizational management, research, and interview techniques. Ability to interpret program rules, obtain factual information through interviews, and advise students both individually and in groups. Strong logical reasoning, initiative, planning, program development, coordination, and supervisory skills. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience with Salesforce, student records systems, and paper‑less advising processes. Valid California driver’s license. Background check (including criminal record) must be completed satisfactorily.
