Job Title: Physician Pediatric Hospitalist (NICU)
Job Type: Locum Tenens
Location: Rockville, MD
Service Setting: Acute Care Hospital
Coverage Type: Clinical Only
Coverage Period: July 1, 2025 August 31, 2025 (Potential to extend)
Clinical Shift Schedule: 24-hour shifts, 7:00 PM 7:00 AM (preferred); 12-hour shifts may be considered



PATIENT INFORMATION
Patient Demographics: Neonates
Patient Volume/Census: NICU patients
Admissions: Yes
Rounding: Included
Phone Consults: Yes
Case Mix: Level 3 NICU, High Frequency Ventilation, Simple Surgeries (e.g., hernia repair)



FACILITY INFORMATION
EMR System: Cerner
Specialty Backup Available: Two neonatologists during the day, one at night
Support Staff Available: Neonatologists, nursing staff
Reason for Coverage: Supplemental



PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
Credentialing Timeline: days



COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

REQUIRED PROCEDURES
Intubations
Umbilical lines
Neonatal resuscitation



JOB REQUIREMENTS
Active MD license or IMLC
NRP
Level 3 NICU experience within the past three years;
Pediatric Hospitalist experience in NICU setting
Board Certification: Neonatology
Other Qualifications: Proficiency with Cerner EMR



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide inpatient care to neonates in a Level 3 NICU setting
Perform neonatal procedures including intubation and placement of umbilical lines
Collaborate with neonatology team to ensure continuity of care
Document clinical activities using Cerner EMR
Participate in simple neonatal surgical procedures as required
