Adelphi is seeking Orientation & Mobility Specialists to provide services in a school district in Montgomery County, Virginia. The Orientation & Mobility Specialist will deliver instruction and support to visually impaired students to develop safe, efficient, and independent travel skills in various environments.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation & Mobility from an accredited program.
• Current ACVREP certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS).
• Virginia does not require separate state licensure for COMS; ACVREP certification is the recognized qualification.
• Experience in a school setting is preferred.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct evaluations to determine students’ orientation and mobility needs.
• Develop and implement individualized orientation and mobility programs for visually impaired students.
• Teach safe travel techniques in school, home, and community environments.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and related service providers to support student independence.
• Participate in student support meetings and contribute to the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEP).
• Maintain accurate documentation, including progress notes and eligibility reports.
• Maintain positive, professional relationships with students, parents, staff, and the public.
• Other duties as assigned.
