*Description for the Extrusion Engineer:*

This position will aid in the implementation of product design and process development activities for extruded products with compliance to all quality and regulatory requirements. This is a full-time, on-site position. This role is an Independent Contributor role. There are no direct reports for this position. Interaction is potentially with all levels of the organization.

Assist in interfacing with customers, suppliers, and internal cross-functional team members to develop specifications, coordinate prototype fabrication of customer designed parts, and transition prototypes into manufactured components.

*​Responsibilities for the Extrusion Engineer*

* Support projects at the work location that requires the assigned effort or task completion.
* Assist and train in respective area of focus (e.g. polymer synthesis, fiber extrusion, warp knitting).
* Assist in equipment installation and process validation activities on new projects.
* Assist in creating procedural documentations such as SOPs, test methods, or MIs.
* Support development projects and process improvement initiatives.
* Assist and train in risk analysis activities such as FMEA.
* Perform literature searches and record experiments and observations.
* Ensure compliance with current good manufacturing and laboratory practices (cGMP, GLP) as well as GDP standards for laboratory notebooks.
* Train and operate processing equipment in a specific process area.
* Draft technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

*Required/Preferable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for Extrusion Engineer:*

* Resorbable materials experience (processing)
* (Melt) Extrusion Experience
* Ability to communicate effectively
* Ability to think creatively, critically, and demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
* Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver on time for projects · Perform basic statistical analysis of results
* Personal computer skills including spreadsheet, word processing, database management, and specialized applications.
* Ability to handle confidential business information
* Ability to be a team player.
* Utilization of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) for project execution and internal communication purposes.

*Education/Experience Requirements for Extrusion Engineer:*

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field of science or engineering

Years of Experience: 3-10

*Physical Requirements for Extrusion Engineer:*

Requires walking, ability to climb stairs, stoop, kneel, and reach above shoulder heights and below waist throughout the day. Lifting as required with proper lifting techniques up to 50 pounds on occasion. Specific vision abilities required.

*Working Conditions at Poly-Med, Inc.:*

This position is in a production environment where the use of personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses, and safety shoes are mandated. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; some exposure to changes in temperature, noise, dust, and chemicals.
