dae is a non-profit with an overarching vision of helping to create a digital-literate and human-centric workforce and culture, which we support through our mission to design and deliver programs and experiences that serve as a catalyst for communities that have been historically and systemically under-resourced and under-served.

About the Role

Intern Educators at dae support Lead Educators by guiding groups of students through the duration of our 10-month high school programs, answering technical questions and advising students along the way as they work on projects in collaboration with their peers. Our teaching style is based on a learn-by-doing model— driven by student designed projects. Educators spend minimal time lecturing, instead focusing on working with students 1-on-1 or in small groups on live coding projects.

Location:  Stamford High School Campus (777 Long Ridge Rd. Stamford, CT) or Stamford Adult Campus (175 Atlantic Ave. Stamford, CT)

Length

School Year: September 15th 2025 – June 12th 2026 (2pm–7pm, 2-4 days/week)

The Individual in this Role will be Responsible for (under supervision of Lead SWE Educators):

  • Facilitate CS Curriculum: 
  • Facilitate CS curriculum (IoT, CyberSecurity, Video Game Design, Data Science, AI, etc)
  • Modify learning approach as necessary to support individual student success and project completion
  • Build relationships with and maintain supervision of students
  • Provide feedback to Lead Educators on program success and student needs daily
  • Student Tracking and Data: 
  • Track students’ individual educational progress based on project completion
  • Understand and track individual student learning needs
  • Develop individualized learning plans, as necessary, with support of the Lead Educator
  • Role model: 
  • Represent dae at all times and serve as a positive role model for new and continuing students
  • Program Support and Development: 
  • OPTIONAL/ASPIRATIONAL: Create program content based on personal skillset and interest
  • Support other aspects of the program, as necessary and requested by lead educators.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with coding required; experience with Internet of Things, Video Game Design, or Cybersecurity preferred.
  • Experience in an education role (i.e. camp counselor, peer mentor, etc) that required rapport building, listening, and accountability for student/program safety
  • Enthusiasm for engaging with students and developing conversations
  • Strong, poised communicator with solid verbal communication skills
  • Able to express ideas clearly and simply, with the ability to adapt to various communication styles and needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop positive and meaningful working relationships with a diverse group of peers and students
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to stay organized
  • High-level of personal accountability, with the ability to complete tasks on-time
  • Open to both giving and receiving healthy feedback; flexible while also forming and keeping healthy boundaries
  • Committed to the organization’s purpose and willing to be an ambassador for our mission
  • Fluent in Spanish a plus
