We are now seeking a College Intern to join our Behavioral Health Team at our Calumet Center ! This is an unpaid internship for current college students needing the hours to complete a course or graduation requirements.

We have 2 Behavioral Health Internship Opportunities

1) General Behavioral Health -provides counseling and support to clients across the lifespan with various presenting concerns using a multi-disciplinary, multi-service, and systemic, team-based approach, we provide a range of office and community based behavioral health services to clients.

2) The Reimagine Youth Development is a program working with youth ages 11-21 serving Roseland, Riverdale, West-Pullman, Auburn Gresham and Englewood that have been exposed to gangs, community violence and chronic trauma. The Clinical intern will be responsible for providing counseling/individual therapy and group therapy to youth and their families. The clinical intern position is community based, sessions can be in the community or at the center.

ESSENTIAL INTERNSHIP FUNCTIONS: Can Include some or all of the following:

• Learn to perform comprehensive, in-depth assessment for a variety of program services.
• Learn to perform intake as assigned.
• Learn to provide a full range of case management, counseling, client advocacy, client education, and related services.
• Learns and utilizes agency and community resources.
• Supports recommendations financial assistance for clients.
• Assist providing group services as indicated by program need.
• Support in completing comprehensive mental health assessments.
• Learn to assess community conditions affecting clients to identify resource gaps and problems.
• Learn to develop and implement Individual Treatment Plans.
• Assist conducting individuals, family, and group therapy sessions.
• Works as part of the team to further develop program initiatives and to increase our referral network.
• Learn to provide internal and external referrals for additional services, as needed.
• Support in representing and interpreting programs of agency in the community.
• Learn to meet agency expectation for quantity of direct service.
• Learns to complying with agency record keeping expectations.
• Works effectively with diverse staff and service population.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Currently enrolled in a Masters level program in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited college or university, required.
• Requires mobility to work with a community-based caseload.
• Ability to maintain assigned community and home-based services.
• Ability to interact appropriately with clients and staff and with diverse individuals and groups.
• Must have access to a vehicle, proof of insurance and valid driver's license to perform essential functions, required.
