Northwood University seeks a dynamic individual with strong interpersonal skills, significant industry and/or research experience, and a strong record of teaching at the undergraduate level to begin teaching in the Fall 2026 semester at our Midland, Michigan campus. The candidate will be hired with the rank of assistant professor for the 2026-2027 academic year. Teaching Load Full‑time undergraduate faculty typically teach five courses per semester. Candidates with an established research agenda and a demonstrated record of scholarly publications may be eligible for an appointment with a research focus and a teaching load of four courses per semester. Course Responsibilities The faculty member will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Economics and select philosophy courses focused on The Northwood Idea. Additional Responsibilities Participation in ongoing curriculum planning and review Internship and/or practicum supervision Research and scholarly activities Professional and instructional development University committee activities Recruitment and retention activities Other related duties as assigned Qualifications Master's degree in Economics or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution Experience teaching economics Ability to interact effectively with a wide and diverse range of students and colleagues Well‑developed oral and written communication skills in a variety of delivery formats Preferred Qualifications Earned Doctorate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution (such as J.D., Ph.D., OBA; ABD candidates considered if completion date is within one year of hire) Expertise in macroeconomics, public policy, or Austrian economics is particularly preferred. All JEL classifications will be considered.
